Kiku Matsuda is one of the most famous blade grinders in Japan.  With over forty years of experience, Kiku Matsuda has been grinding knives since he was 15 years old and is a fifth generation knife grinder.  Using the Hamaguri-Ba grinding technique, he has produced the Japanese convex edge normally only found in the classic Katana sword. 

The J-Defender is an evolved version of the knife used by the Japanese Self-Defense Force. The J-Defender uses a OU-31 steel blade with 5-1/2″ combat dagger shape with a Hamaguri-ba edge and serrated back. A 5″ hand contoured G10 grip features two lanyard holes and thumb notches.
